Each U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program award is for one summer; however starting with FY2023, previous U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program awardees may participate for up to two additional summers.
In addition, renewal fellows must have satisfactorily completed all requirements from prior U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program awards, including the final report, a patent and inventions disclosure, and a program evaluation questionnaire.
Candidates who were not offered an award due to funding or other limitations or who were not recommended for an award by the panels may reapply for an award for the following summer.
As long as the proposal is accepted by the lab mentor and the lab has an open slot, there is no limit to the number of times a fellow can participate.
If you are renewing, a proposal is still required. Be sure to mention the previous work you did at the laboratory with the advisor, as well as what you propose to do in the upcoming summer program. One of your references should also be your lab advisor from the previous summer.
